How many sports players do you think sit on the sidelines during the game and never get playing time? They settle with the fact they can call themselves “players” regardless if they ever get to play or not.

Every week they dress up in their gear, run out on the field with the rest of the team, then sit next to the Gatorade jug watching, hoping, wishing they could be on the field. Still it doesn’t happen.

We do that in life. We sit on the sidelines and do nothing. We sit and watch everyone else use their gifts and wish we could use ours. Life passes us by as we wait – wait for something to happen. We don’t use our gifts because we doubt the gifts we really have.
One of the cool things about God is that he equips each of us with different gifts and talents. I’m a writer and I’m so thankful he chose that gift for me versus the gift of teaching Algebra. Oh how the thought of teaching polynomials makes my stomach turn.
I wonder how much success for the Kingdom has been tossed to the wayside because we don’t believe in the God-given potential he has given us. I’m guilty. I’ve let low self-esteem and the lack of confidence keep me from pursuing gifts and passions he has placed in me.
God created YOU with unbelievable potential!
It’s time to get in the game and start playing. It’s time to toss our feelings and wrong beliefs to the wayside and use what he’s given us.
The first step to doing this is putting our confidence in God, not in ourselves. We can’t pursue life with our own confidence, but it’s completely possible with God’s confidence. Jesus said so in Mark 10:27.

“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.

Ask him to see yourself through his eyes. If you don’t know your gifts, ask him to show you. Believe in the potential he has given you. Put your confidence in him. He’ll never let you down.
