During 2011 we have been doing a series at church titled, “Everything Jesus Said.” It’s based on the book, The Greatest Words Ever Spoken: Everything Jesus Said About You, Your Life, and Everything Else by Steven K. Scott. If you’ve never read the book, I highly recommend it.
Today our pastor took a different approach and shared “What Jesus Didn’t Day” I wanted to share with you.
Here are Four Things Jesus Didn’t Say:
- If you don’t the know the date of your salvation then you are not saved. Everyone doesn’t have a dramatic salvation. My pastor was 8 years old when he was saved. It was simple. It took a hurricane on the other hand to bring my parents to know Christ. Everyone doesn’t have to have a dramatic story to share. Do I share my dramatic story with others? Yes. My friend Suzette shares her story as well. Her salvation experience isn’t dramatic, but she speaks about everyday life. And people listen.
- If you want to be saved just invite Me into your heart. When you first see this you may not agree. But the point he is making is that many just say, “Accept Jesus into your heart and everything will be okay.” Wrong. Trusting in Jesus brings salvation. Believing you’re a sinner. Believing Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins. Trusting your life to Him.
- When you miss an opportunity to share Me with someone, it’s your fault if that person goes to hell. This statement is powerful. See Ezekiel 3:18-19. Our job as followers of Jesus is to bring Christ to people. God’s job is to bring people to Christ. LOVE THAT!
- If you come to Me, I want either all of you or none of you. See John 3:15-18. John 6:47. John 11:25-26. Luke 14:26-27. The once saved always saved issue comes into play here for some of you reading I’m sure. But as I looked closer today it makes sense. The first three pieces of Scripture above state that we are saved. The last piece of Scripture talks about discipleship. If we don’t pick up our cross daily to follow Christ we cannot be His disciples. That doesn’t mean we won’t go to Heaven. Do I believe we will have to answer for being lazy Christians? Absolutely!
Are you simply saved or are you a disciple? Comment below…
Sundi Jo: Love this post! So many misconceptions about what He said out there. You would probably like 21 Things God Never Said by Larry Moyer. These four points are covered in Chapters 1,4,5 and 16. Plus a whole lot more.
Thanks for being so faithful to the Lord!
BTW, are you talking about Ted C?
Thanks Andy. I am talking about Ted C., yes. You know him?
I met him once or twice when I was out in Branson. I am good friends with Bernard Bourque. Do you know him?
Yes! Bernard used to pastor at Woodland Hills, where Ted C. is the pastor. LOVE Bernard! Small world eh?
That it is! Bernard was the pastor in DFW when my wife and I walked into his church and came to Christ 8 years ago.

Do a little research and find out Jesus didn’t say the whole ending of Mark.16:15-18. Itwas added by early christians,. The did an evil thing and put words in Christ’s mouth that he never said,a very unethical thing to do. You can read about it in a foot note of the Harper Collin Study Bible,New Revised Standard version,1993,in apaperbabck edition,- in a foot note on page 1952; or in the book-‘Misquoting Jesus by Bart D. Ehrman, pages 66-68;or in the Book by D.C. Parker-The Living Text of the Gospels,(1997),pages124-127; or go to Google and look up ‘the longer ending of the Gospel of Mark’…
The two oldest New testament gospels we have,Codex Sianaticus and Vaticanus don’t have Mark 16:9-20…it was added later. so see there really are word Christ never said…
