God has been doing some work on my prayer life. I love what he’s showing me. He’s using my prayers to be bolder in all that I do and ask for.

Thanks to my amazing friend Jennifer White for introducing me to The Circle Maker: Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears. This book is rocking my world!
In the book, Mark Batterson talks about circling the walls of Jericho, as Joshua and his people did. It didn’t look normal. For seven days they circled the city, remaining obedient to God and waiting for his prompting. Day seven, the trumpets blew and the walls collapsed. Why couldn’t they just break the doors down? Because that’s not what God said to do. Simple obedience.

We all have Jericho’s in our lives. Walls we need to circle and circle and circle until God breaks them down. But we often give up after the first circle don’t we? I know I’m guilty.
We must have consistency in our prayers.

Praying through is all about consistency. It’s circling Jericho so many times it makes you dizzy.”

Don’t take no for an answer.
Keep circling until you get the answer. God loves tenacity.
So now that you’ve asked, what’s next? Batterson says,

Stop praying for it and start praising God for it. True faith celebrates before the miracle happens, as if the miracle has already happened, because you know that you know that God is going to deliver on His promise.”

I’m quick to ask but not near as quick to praise God for what I don’t have yet. Honestly, the thought never really crossed my mind until He started pointing out to me through people and things like The Circle Maker.

Over the last week, God has changed that in me. I’m asking, then I’m praising. Does this mean I’m going to get everything I want? No. Not if it’s not part of God’s desires. But the closer I get to him, the more his desires become mine. I don’t feel I’ve been asking for things that God hasn’t laid upon my heart.
Here are a few things I am praying through:

  • Healing over my body
  • Financial stability
  • Success with my book
  • Healing over one of my dearest friends

This is what I’m praising through:

  • I thank him for the strength and energy to keep doing what he has called me to
  • The ability to tithe above and beyond my 10%
  • The hundreds of thousands of people that will he will change through Dear Dad
  • The doctors that are full of God’s wisdom to know the next right step to take

This isn’t a one time thing. Just like Joshua, we have to keep circling until God is ready for us to blow the trumpet and the walls come tumbling down. Don’t stop before the miracle happens. God is waiting to give us BIG things, but we have to do our part in asking and believing.
What are you praying and praising through today? Comment below…
