Who grew up reading the Berenstain Bears? Me! I not only read their books, but I watched the cartoon also. I seriously don’t know how you could walk away from reading or watching them in action and not have that “I will make the world better” feeling in your heart. Okay, maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but you get the point.
I haven’t read a Bernestain Bears book in several years. I actually forgot about them as I grew up and got older. Okay, maybe as I got older. I’m still working on the growing up part. My favorite t-shirt is the Smurfs.
I was browsing around on Biblegateway one day and happened to see an advertisement for those inspirational bears. It was a Bible. The Berenstain Bears have a Bible! Do you think that’s as cool as I do? Well, I hope so because you’re going to get your chance to take one home.
I was very intrigued so I contacted Zondervan and asked them if I could give one away. They were happy to oblige.
It’s an incredible Bible really. I would keep it for myself if I hadn’t promised to give it away.
Here are just of the few great features included in the Berenstain Bears Bible:
- 18-full color pages with your favorite characters
- Large, readable print
- Dictionary for quick reference
- Reading plan to take you through step by step
- NIRV (New International Reader’s Version)
Another thing I love about the Berenstain Bears Bible? It’s written at a third grade level. Your kids can have fun reading the Bible, and learn about God and His Word in a BIG, FUN way.

What was your favorite Berenstain Bears story?
My favorite Berenstain Bears story would probably have to be The Berenstain and the Week at Grandma’s. I still have most of my books and share them with my daughter.
Awesome. I wish I still had mine. They’ll be collector’s items someday.
I remember reading The Berenstain Bears Get the Gimmies to my kids. But they all the berenstain books have great lessons.
I wish I would have kept all mine. Would love to read them again.
My girls enjoyed both the cartoon and the books. I loved to read the ones where the siblings didn’t always see eye-to-eye. There were hidden, and some obvious moral lessons in each episode/story. Great values of a family, with the kids showing obvious respect for their parents and those around them. Thanks for the reminder, I am going to find those books and share with the grandkids. I had forgotten about them. Wish the cartoons would come back on! Thanks, Sundi!
I wish the cartoon would come back on too! I would so watch it.. You’re never too old to get valuable lessons from those Bears!
We always loved The Berenstain Bears “Too Much Junk Food.” 🙂

Not sure I remember that one. I’ll have to look it up.. Thanks Jan.
I read all these books to my 3 sons when they were growing up. We liked them all and always looked forward to a trip to the bookstore to get a new one. I’m sure we had the whole set. A favorite would be….”The Berenstain Bears New Baby.”
These books taught values and discussed issues that children might be facing, such as going to school for the first time or trying out for a team in a format that kids loved and wanted to hear over and over again.
I know. Love the values they taught. It’s got me wanting to read them again. Do you still have the collection?
The Berenstain Bears Count Their Blessings!
Good one!
Interesting NIrV Bible for kids and grandkids. My grandkids and I have enjoyed several of the Berenstein Bears books including Forget Their Manners. I’d definitely enjoy sharing this with them. Thanks for a fun contest. 🙂 Off to share it on Facebook and Twitter too 🙂
Thanks for sharing Kaye. We could all learn about manners from the Bears – I know I could anyway..
I can’t believe how each comment had a different favorite story! I guess that shows they all were pretty good.
Not sure there was a book that wasn’t! 🙂
I loved them too growing up. I remember loving the one about the dentist not being so scary after all! 🙂
Yes! I remember that one too..
Cool, never heard of it. Is it written different than the regular bible?
It’s NIRV version. Written on a 3rd grade level. Very cool.
My kids love those books, and so do I. I think my favorite is the Messy Room, where Momma calls the cubs room “a dust-catching, wall-to-wall, helter-skelter MESS!” We reuse that expression a lot with our kids 🙂
Another set of similar books that have the same kind of values are the Little Critter books.
Never heard of the Little Critter books. I’ll have to check them out.
Count your Blessings- but I really love them all.
I pretty much love them all too Julie.
